Using our combined expertise and passion, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and BMJ bring you one of the largest international conferences focused on improving outcomes for people and communities through quality improvement.

Attend Melbourne 2023 ONLINE

For a second consecutive year, we are offering the opportunity to attend the International Forum in-person and online. 

The online programme will be a smaller programme consisting of selected sessions taking place in Melbourne and live-streamed from the venue, as well as some dedicated virtual workshops. Registration for online attendance is open until Thursday, 26 October.

All in-person registrations will automatically receive access to the online platform.

  • Access to the exhibition launch and welcome drinks hosted by our exhibitors and sponsors on the evening of Monday 30 October.

2-Day Ticket 

Tuesday 31 October – Wednesday 1 November

  • Access to all keynote and plenary sessions, networking events that we organise, lunch and refreshments, access to the exhibition hall and ePoster displays and presentations taking place on Tuesday 31 October and Wednesday 1 November
  • Opportunity to join the exhibition launch and welcome drinks reception hosted by our exhibitors and sponsors on the evening of Monday 30 October.

The prices in the table above are in AUD$, per delegate and are inclusive of GST at 10%. Our individual and group rates are applicable to all delegates, with special discounts for:

  • Students in full-time education
  • Residents of Lower-Middle-Income Countries (LMCs) and Lower-Income Countries (LICs)

All bookings should be made online and are payable by credit/debit card or invoice. We can only issue invoices for groups of five or more people from the same organisation.

Funded Places and Funding for Patient Representatives

We are delighted to offer a selection of in-person and virtual funded places for patient representatives/with lived experience, carers and service users to join us at the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare in Melbourne. Read more about how to apply here.

Group bookings

Groups attending in person can save between 10% and 15% on individual delegate rates and accelerate their learning as a team. Booking as part of a group does not only allow you to save on your delegate fees but also gives an opportunity to maximise your experience and your organisation’s exposure at the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare.

  • Group savings apply when a minimum of 5 or more individuals from the same organisation register at the same time
  • Group bookings are available for the 2-day (Tuesday 31 October – Wednesday 1 November 2023) or the 3-day (Monday 30 October – Wednesday 1 November 2023) packages only and must be made online.

Student Discounted Places

Allocated on a first come, first served basis, our special discounts for students are for those who are in full-time education and wish to attend the International Forum. 

The student discounts apply to our standard registration fees only. We are unable to subsidize or cover your travel, accommodation or other costs associated with attending the conference.

Early Bird rates are not available for our special discount packages.

To apply for the discounted student places, please send one of the following to Rebecca Wanbon at rwanbon@bmj.com:

  • A copy of your student card which clearly displays the date of validity in numerical form
  • An official letter issued by the Dean of your university confirming you will be in full-time education at the time of the conference you are booking (30 October – 1 November 2023)
  • If your application is successful, you will be provided with further instructions on how to register with our student rates. 

Lower-Middle-Income and Low-Income Countries rates

We do have a limited number of places for delegates who are residents of and working in Low-Income and Lower-Middle-Income countries to attend the International Forum for the two or three-day conference at a reduced registration rate. Only delegates from Low-Income (LICs) and Lower-Middle-Income (LMCs) countries qualify for our discounted rates. Please check the World Bank country classification to see if you are eligible.

Please note that these discounts are applicable to our standard individual registration fees only and are not applicable for travel, accommodation or other costs associated with attending the International Forum.

Early Bird rates are not available for our special discount packages.

How to register:

There is no application process. When registering, please select to register as a delegate and enter your full address on the booking details page as this will be used to verify your registration.

The discounted rate will be automatically applied when you choose a country listed as LMC or LIC on the World Bank country classification list while filling in your personal details.

As allocated places are limited, discounts will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. You may be contacted to provide proof of residency.
