Clinical Lead – Culture and Leadership for the Maternity Transformation Programme, NHS England and NHS Improvement; England

The Culture and Leadership Development Programme aims to support perinatal services across England to achieve the national ambition to create the conditions for a culture of safety and continuous improvement through good leadership. Our overarching vision as a Maternity Transformation Programme is for safer, more personalised and equitable maternity care across England and to deliver the NHS’ national ambition to halve the rates of stillbirths, neonatal mortality, maternal mortality and brain injury by 2025. In my career so far I have worked as a consultant midwife and maternity governance lead and have now been working in the field of patient safety and quality improvement for more than 10 years, and at a national level for the last five years. I am still a midwife at heart, and am proud to maintain my clinical practice at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.
