Our recommendations for those with experience in QI

There is a wealth of programme content for delegates with an understanding of quality improvement methodology who have also worked on or developed quality improvement projects in their organisation.

We have segmented our recommendations based on topic, but you can mix and match between them depending on your special areas of interest.

Our topic recommendations

INTEGRATED CARE

Integrated care is about putting people at the heart of our systems and providing a joined-up approach to care. It removes traditional divisions between hospitals and primary care, between physical and mental health, and emphasises providing the right care in the right place at the right time.

Taking our lead from Sweden, but also including international examples, sessions in this route will demonstrate international examples of integrated care in practice.

Tuesday 21 June 2022

During this three-part presentation, you will find out about the work done in Sweden on moving towards a more integrated and person-centred health and care system.

Join this session that covers the connection between healthcare and the physical environments where it takes place. The outset is the spatial continuum within integrated care from high tech in-patient care to care at people’s homes and the impact on patients’ as well as staff’s health and well-being.

During this session, you will find out about the two practices from the Krasnoyarsk Region (Russian Federation) and the Netherlands. These are extremes when it comes to geographical distances, however, both benefit from an exchange of organizational principles and methodology.

Join this session and gain an understanding of the importance of governance and culture in building the steps for success.

Wednesday 22 June 2022

Take part in this workshop and find out how four projects are improving equity and giving children the best start in life.

Join this session and find out what the key factors of safety and quality programs in community care are.

Join this session and gain an understanding of how healthcare organisations acting as anchor institutions can impact population health and improve equity.

CO-CREATING CARE

The sessions we recommend here all focus on patient partnership, patient leadership and co-production. The majority of sessions in this stream will be co-presented with patients, carers or service users.

If you are interested in this topic area, be sure to visit our PEP (Professional Experienced Person) stand in the exhibition hall during breaks and lunch to meet with patient representatives, take part in activities, and find out how you can involve patients in your own organisation.

Monday 20 June 2022

Participate in an interactive workshop that will present new QI models and tools incorporating humanity and patient power.

What is the role of improvement science in a fast-moving, exciting world? We’ll be covering four key topic areas that explore how the science of improvement can help us thrive in our changing health and health care environment.

Tuesday 21 June 2022

During this two-part presentation, you will find out about the work done in the UK and Sweden on patient leadership and be introduced to the use of the power triangle reflection model.

The Malaria Project provides powerful lessons for how public health strategies plus rigorous improvement methods can mitigate global health challenges. Don Goldmann will explain how improvement science concepts and public health approaches can work synergistically to address contemporary health and health care challenges.

The first part of the presentation will describe how the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) co-produced patient decision aids (PDAs) with mesh-affected women, to support informed shared decision making.

The session will end with communication advice for patient-doctor relationships, how to avoid and respond to patient complaints, and how to develop good patient partnership engagement.

This session shares learning and results from the process of the creation of a new model for investigation and learning from suicide cases, and include the aspects of patients. Join this workshop and gain a better understanding of the complexity of incidents of severe patient harm.

Wednesday 22 June 2022

Join this workshop with The University of Gothenburg for Person-centred Care GPCC and get hand-on experience of the tools they have developed to facilitate implementation of person-centred care in health care settings.

For the first part of this presentation, we will explore how teams can work actively with patient representatives and the methodology of how to bring together everyone’s experiences in the work with improvements.

Then, during the second part of this presentation, we will learn from a community manager who has been living with type 1 diabetes since adolescence.

This presentation will conclude with researchers exploring how virtual reality can be used to promote the mental health and wellbeing of indigenous adolescents.

Join a discussion with some of the leaders in Swedish healthcare innovation and technology and hear extensive examples of their work.

During this presentation, we will focus on how we can work with co-design from a patient safety perspective.
