International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare Gothenburg 2022 is postponed

The in-person International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare in Gothenburg, Sweden will now take place on 20-22 June 2022.

The International Forum in Gothenburg is postponed to June 2022

In light of the ongoing impact of covid-19 on healthcare professionals and organisations, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and BMJ have decided that continuing with our plans to hold the in-person International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare in Gothenburg this March would not be in the best interests of the community we aim to support.

The International Forum family consists of health and care professionals, students, patients, carers and service users from around the world, and we know that many lives have been and continue to be hugely impacted by the pandemic.

New dates for the conference: 20-22 June 2022
While covid-19 continues to place a great burden on healthcare professionals amid efforts to manage the pandemic as well as to implement recovery, we have decided to postpone the conference until 20-22 June 2022.

We are deeply committed to delivering this much anticipated International Forum as an in-person event in Gothenburg. We believe that this format offers attendees, speakers and everyone involved the best possible experience and opportunity to reach their goals.

We understand that the new conference dates in June may not be entirely suitable for everyone and we’d like to assure you that we have worked closely with the venue to find alternative solutions. Unfortunately, at such a late stage, their availability is limited.

We are, however, exploring options for offering some of the conference content virtually, and we will share further details as soon as we are able to do so.

Our plans for the in-person International Forum in Sydney on 6-8 June remain unaffected at this time.

What happens next?

We apologise for the inconvenience that our decision to postpone this International Forum may cause you, this has not been an easy decision to make.

All delegates registered for the International Forum in March will be automatically transferred to the new June dates. Alternatively, they have the option to cancel and request a full refund.

The deadline to register for the International Forum on 20-22 June with Early Bird prices is extended until 4 May.

While we expect to make some changes to the programme schedule so it fits the new conference dates, the conference theme and focus remain the same as the advertised March programme. You can read more about the programme here.

We hope to see you in June for what we hope is an unforgettable celebration of everything the quality improvement community has to offer in these challenging times.
