Since 2008, Aqua’s flagship unwarranted clinical variation programme has been working with data from over 700,000 patients across 15 clinical focus areas. Through its tried and tested methodology and its successful blend of building clinical consensus to focus on improving patient care, the programme has delivered a significant impact on length of stay, health inequalities and cost reduction.


As the NHS’ longest-standing improvement programme approaches its second decade, we are working with hospitals across the NW and beyond on six clinical focus areas.


The session will support delegates to consider:



  • How to recover from post-covid widening of unwarranted clinical variation and regain a trajectory of continuous improvement

  • How patient safety learning can meaningfully inform organizational priorities and clinical consensus on what good care looks like to reduce unwarranted variation in the experience of care.
