NHS England’s Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) has far reaching implications for safety management across all levels of healthcare. Introducing changes in four key areas including removing a range of centrally mandated requirements, the framework requires implementing new ways of working and letting go of entrenched habits. This session focuses on what happens when national requirements for incident response are removed: What do organisations prioritise for improvement? How do inequalities feature? What is the impact on engaging those affected? PSIRF is at the forefront of patient safety incident response. This session will provide valuable insight for national and international leaders considering improving their approach to learning from safety events.
As a result of the session, participants will be able to:
- Understand how providers in the NHS are changing how they respond to safety events to maximise learning and improvement
- Describe what organisations prioritise for improvement when given the autonomy to managetheir own safety work
- Know where to access resources to support a shift in adaptive capacity, safety culture and local innovation
