Acute patients often experience waiting time for surgery affecting patient outcome as well as work environment. Learn how implementing an urgency classification has ensured timely surgery for acute surgical patients, enhanced work environment and improved surgical efficiency in Central Denmark Region.

The session will also elaborate on how all medical specialties across five hospitals have agreed on one common urgency classification as well as the key drivers in Central Denmark Regions’ improvement work. Among others the importance of data, leadership and engagement of healthcare professionals.

After this session, participants will be able to:



  • Use a specific tool to improve patient safety for acute surgical patients and at the same time enhance work environment

  • Understand how data can be used as a key driver in improving patient safety and surgical efficiency

  • Identify key mechanisms in how to engage healthcare professionals and leaders in improving surgical pathways
