Pursuing equity for communities disproportionately impacted by social determinants of health requires urgent action. Using our experience of working with teams at East London NHS Foundation Trust, UK, we will share how to support teams to use QI through a stepwise sequence of improvement to reduce equity gaps. Through hearing from the experiences of staff and service users in the work, we will describe what this looks like in practice and the real measurable impact it can have on outcomes and experiences. The session will help equip you to go back to your organisations and begin to apply QI to solve your own issues with inequity.

After this session, participants will be able to

  • Understand the importance and urgency to pursue equity in healthcare

  • Understand and learn how to support teams in their organisations to apply QI methodology through an equity lens

  • Understand the impact of using QI to improve equity using examples from project teams
