Format: Workshop
Stream: Population and Public Health
Content filters: tbc

The evidence behind equity and equality gaps in health and healthcare abounds. The challenge at present is how to proactively and measurably close these gaps. The session will focus on describing the design and progress on Core20PLUS5, a national NHS England approach to inform action to reduce healthcare inequalities at both national and system level, defining a target population – the ‘Core20 (the most deprived 20% of the national population as identified by the national Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) and the PLUS referring to other marginalized populations’ – and identifies ‘5’ focus clinical areas requiring accelerated improvement.

After this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the key design features of a national approach to reduce healthcare inequalities

  • Understand how to use improvement methods to close healthcare equality and equity gaps proactively

  • Develop ideas to close healthcare inequalities locally
